Review: Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs

Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5)Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The newest book in the Mercedes Thompson series is focused on the wolf, Samuel. He's really gotten himself into a bind with what he's done. It's up to Mercy to figure it out. If the pack gets involved, it won't be a good outcome for Samuel! While trying to protect Samuel, Mercy ticks off a TV producer and ends up in a heap of trouble herself. In the process, she takes Gabriel down with her (not purposely). Can her mate bond with Adam be enough to save her and Samuel?

In this book, the reader learns more of the bonds of a wolf pack. The ins and outs. How they communicate with the Alpha and the Marrock. The reader also learns more about the Fae and how they operate.

Recommended for readers of paranormal romance and fans of Patricia Briggs.

Thanks to Mindi (a student) for letting me borrow this book for some summer reading! :)

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by MizB over at Should Be Reading.

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page.

Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

Please avoid spoilers!!

"Butt kicking being part and parcel of the service, both on the giving and receiving end," agreed Adam, without opening his eyes.

Book Review: Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Mercy Mercy Mercy...she does it all again!! While still trying to recover from her fiasco from Iron Kissed, Mercy is given a new "mission" dealing with vampires and fae. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I read it very quickly (including while trying to order dinner at IHOP). However, it's time to read something else for a change. This is a great stopping place in this series though since Patricia Briggs is still working on the next book in the series.

One other thing I will say about this book (I don't want to give anything away!!) is that I'm not pleased with the choice of man for her. I'm hoping this will change as the series progresses. I will tell you who I want to see her with, but only if you ask. :)

Book Review: Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Werewolves, vampires, and fae, OH MY!!! This is the third book in the Mercy Thompson series and this one featured the story of the fae. Iron Kissed starts out pretty intense and doesn't let up until the end!! I'm not sure this is my favorite of the series but out of the three it's in the top 2.

I learned so much more about fae during the reading of this book!! They seem to be such fun creatures. If I had to pick between being a werewolf, vampire, or fae, I think I'd pick fae so I could be G-L-A-M-O-R-OUS whenever I wanted to be!!!

Patricia Briggs has written one more book in this series called Bone Crossed. It is my next book to read. After that I'm going to take a break from the mystical world and settle in with some of the other books stacking up around me. I like to keep my reading varied and I have some really good books that keep begging my attention. If you don't attend to them, they just might turn on you!!! LOL

Book Review: Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs

Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I, by far, enjoyed this book so much more than the first Moon Called. There was more action (mainly with the vampires this time and I'm more of vampire than werewolf fan), a twist in the love interests of various characters in this book, and it had me hooked from the very beginning.

I am still in love with the fact that their are some non-traditional roles highlighted in this book. Mercy is an auto mechanic amongst other things. Not many authors highlight non-traditional careers. This is one thing that drew me into this series. I also love the very vivid descriptions about vampires and werewolves that are used in this book. I feel as though I'm there, smelling the smells, hearing the screams, and that I'm in the thick of things.

I do not envy Mercy in this book as I did in the first one. She has far too many issues for me to deal with. As far as her choice for lovers go, I can't decide who I'd rather see her with. I also have a few more in mind than possibly the author is alluding to so please don't assume I've narrowed it down to two!! :)

My only real *complaint* about this series is that the book covers don't seem to match up with Mercy's character. The covers look a bit, umm...slutty but I don't get that vibe from Mercy in these books. We know she does have a tat on her stomach but other than that, there is no mention of these others that the covers are depicting. Truthfully, had this book not been practically forced in my face by a student, I probably would have never picked it up to read based on the cover. This just goes to show that you really can't always judge a book by it's cover!!

I now look forward to reading the next book in this series Iron Kissed!!
