Interview Game

It's been awhile since I've posted on here. My apologies to those of you who are faithful readers. Life has been a bit crazy these past couple of months. I'll tell you more about that at a different time. 

I was perusing Twitter one night and saw that Amy from My Friend Amy was wanting to revive an oldie but goodie kinda game. I couldn't resist playing along! I hope you'll join in the fun as well!

Thanks for playing along! Here are the questions that Amy has sent me to answer! 

1) Has a book ever changed your life?

Yes, the Bible. I know it's a cliched answer but it really has changed my life. I wouldn't be the person I am today without the Good Book and more importantly, the salvation within! 

2) What's your favorite holiday treat?

Do I have to pick just one??? I'd have to say pumpkin bread (you know, the one with cream cheese in the middle?) for Thanksgiving and then hot chocolate for Christmas time. I'm trying to cut down on too many sweets though!  (Oh, btw, I HATE pumpkin pie...weird eh?)

3) If you could trade places with a character on a TV Show for one day who would it be?

Hands down, it would be Elena on Vampire Diaries. Who couldn't resist a kiss or two from Stefan and/or Damon? 

4) Hardcover, trade paperback, mass market, or ebook? Why?

Believe it or not, I do not have much of a preference. I'm an equal opportunity book binding reader! :) 

5) If you could wish one thing for the world for Christmas, what would it be?

For every soldier to be home with his/her family for an entire month....at bare minimum!!

Review: Something Blue by Emily Giffin

Darcy is still reeling over the fact that her life is upside down (I don't want to be specific in case you haven't read Something Borrowed yet. She is definitely looking for a way to get back at those who have caused her so much pain. She's dealing with her newest life situation when another bombshell is dropped on her. How much more can Darcy take? She moves to England to live with Ethan and learns more about herself than she can ever imagine. Will Darcy ever change and be able to forgive others? Will she ever get past her own self-absorbed lifestyle?



It's been a couple of years since I read Something Borrowed but it easily came back to me during the first few chapters of this book. I have not seen the movie yet, but I have heard it's great and that there is talk of a movie for this book! This is a great chick-lit read that takes a few short hours.



Readers of my blog may want to know that this is a contemporary chick lit book that does include some strong language and intimate scenes. I do not recommend this book for those under the age of eighteen.

Book Review: Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

Grab a copy of this book and then meet your girlfriends for a book study!! Wow, this book was amazing! I loved the story (not fond of what the characters did) and found some similarities in my life (without the affairs!!) Something Borrowed reminds me a lot of [movie: My Best Friend's Wedding] and I have read similar reviews that say the same.



This was my first real chick lit book and I loved it from the first sentence! Emily Giffin has a witty way of drawing her readers into a what could very well be a real life story. I envisioned this, as I was reading, being played out in a movie. I think I would want to see Matthew McCaunaghey play the part of Dex, with Julia Roberts as Rachel (she's got to get some [movie: Pretty Woman] kicks!), Jennifer Aniston as Darcy and Robert Pattinson as Marcus. I might change my mind if I saw them all together but this is how I envision it now.



I feel a strong urge to call one of my besties just to talk about this book. It brings back some memories of high school and life afterwards. While I didn't have a situation entirely like the characters in this book, I had something close and similar to some respects. Nothing like looking back and talking about some of the stupid things you do as a younger person!! This book helped me to realize that all the high school stuff is just that...high school stuff! I am still friends with my best friend since 3rd grade (Love ya Val) and have forged other great friendships since college.



Something Borrowed is a very fitting book for a discussion, especially considering there are great review questions in the back of the book. If anyone would like to discuss this one, feel free to leave comments!!
