Porter and Midge are excited! They've heard all about an upcoming parade with fireworks but they also know that they aren't quite ready to go out and enjoy them all just yet. Their owners have a few responsibilities to meet with them before the big day. Porter and Midge learn all about treats and how to earn them. They also learn that going to the vet isn't so bad either. Finally, the topic of pet vaccinations is covered too! Now they are ready for the big, fun Fourth of July event!

Such a cute book that can guide a new pet owner through some steps they should take. This is a fictional story that has great tips and tools but as always, consult with a professional on matters that are concerning.

This is a very informational and helpful book for a family that is looking to add a furbaby. In this story, Lora and CJ have decided they'd like to each have a dog. Their parents have wisely advised the children that they need to research everything possible about pet care to demonstrate the knowledge necessary to be a great pet parent. CJ and Lora learn all about proper vet care, exercise, food, and more and present their findings to their parents who agree to allow them to have a new pet.

Any family with small children looking to add a new furbaby should be required to read this book! It's a great tool for youngsters to create a goal list from and to demonstrate their learned knowledge before the family commits to such a huge undertaking of adding to their family.

Porter and Midge, along with their dogs, are on an adventure to learn more about stimulating activities that dogs enjoy. They also discover some lower stimulating playtime activities as well. Their friend Cheryl invites them to the "doggy P.E. class" (my words) to play different sports with the dogs there.

The illustrations in this book almost look like they are going to come off the page! They are very well done and are in vibrant colors.

This is a must-have for animal loving families and can be used as a teaching tool with youngsters learning about animal care.

CJ and Lora want everyone to know how to properly care for a dog. They use Porter and Midge to talk through rhyme about ways to approach dogs, how to walk with them, cues to watch for, and more. The illustrations are very colorful and lifelike.

This would be a great book for a youngster about to get their first dog. It would be a great refresher for someone who's cared for a dog for awhile too. This would be a great introduction to being a responsible pet owner or even for someone visiting with a pet for the first time.
