Percy owns the local hardware store and is very committed to running it smoothly. His mom and sister are very concerned about his bachelor status. They begin to encourage him to write letters to young ladies to see if he can find "the one" in mail order bride style.

Clara is a teacher who's also very independent. When a letter arrives from Percy and she begins to get to know him better, she makes the decision to leave her job and go to be near Percy to see if their relationship can go anywhere.

Amelia is a seamstress. She's very devoted to her craft. She too receives a letter from Percy. Having no family per se to keep her in one pace, Amelia finds herself on a train to meet Percy and possibly start a life together.

When both women show up within days of each other, they are all a bit perplexed at first....

I enjoyed this read very much! It's a novella that can easily be read in 1-2 settings. This is a clean romance that I could safely recommend to anyone looking for something in this genre. There were a few character flaws (names misattributed, family situations) so just know that going in.

Overall, a good book!

Wes is your ordinary everyday run-of-the-mill reporter. Michael is a decorated war hero who is losing his battle with cancer.  Michael finalizes his wishes and chooses Wes, a man he's never met, to deliver his eulogy. Just how would one go about doing that when they knew nothing of this person short of the newspaper articles on him. Michael made it easy though. He left Wes a list of names of people to interview to make the perfect eulogy.

Through a series of unforeseen twists and turns, debut author Graham Garrison tells a tale of a hometown hero that might be found anywhere. How are heroes glorified? Are they proud of what is said about them? What if truths are covered up in the event that the hero will no longer be the hero everyone thinks he/she is?

I read this book in just under 6 hours. I found it very hard to put down!! I will caution readers to have tissues handy as the first chapter grips your heart and never lets go...even to the very end! This is a beautiful tribute to all soldiers on the war battle field as well as those fighting the cancer battlefield. It is important to include the families of these warriors as well. If you are reading this and you are a warrior/family of a warrior, THANK YOU!

I highly recommend this read for all. I'll be taking this one to school and recommending to my students!

Wonderful Women Wednesday

Today's wonderful woman is known as Kayla H. Kayla is a former student of mine, as of Friday, May 22. This young lady totally amazes me. She helped me to organize 5 blood drives this school year and played a huge part in running them. As a result, she won a scholarship from the American Red Cross! Kayla has been my right hand for the past couple of years at school. She is also the first student that I have taught all 4 years of high school (this was my 4th year teaching). When we started the CNA program, I didn't think I'd see a CNA so soon, but Kayla is the first student from our high school to become a certified nursing assistant.

I can't even begin to tell you how proud of this young woman that I am. She has faced many obstacles in the four years I have known her, but she has met everyone of them head on and survived. She has an adorable daughter who is 2 and the highlight of her life. She is one of the few teenage moms who's been able to "pull it off" and stay in school. Kayla plans on starting her nursing career this fall at a local community college.

Kayla if you read this (and I hope you do!) I wish you all the luck in the world. You are more than deserving of my "Wonderful Women" award for this week along with the other blessings that will fall your way throughout life!!!

Wonderful Women Wednesday

This week's "Wonderful Woman" is actually a bunch of wonderful women!! I'll never be able to name them all, so please know that if you are a nurse or a teacher, I think *YOU* are a wonderful woman!!

This week is National Teacher's Week as well as National Nurses Week. Today is Teacher's Day and Nurse's Day. Both of these professions are near and dear to my heart, as I am a registered nurse and a teacher.

Be sure to thank and honor the teacher and/or nurse in your life. They put their best foot forward daily to ensure a better tomorrow!
