1 Book you read and/or reviewed this week: The Amulet of Samrkand by Jonathan Stroud

2 Words that describe the book: magicians, children

3 Settings where it took place or characters you met: Parliament, Bartimaeus, Nathaniel

4 Things you liked and/or disliked about it: 1. I really don't like the footnotes in the book when Bartimaeus is speaking. 2. But then again, I do like the footnotes...it shows the snarky side of Bartimaeus 3. I feel sorry for Nathaniel on oh so many levels!! 4. The story is a bit slow in places but overall, not too bad!

5 Stars or less for your rating? So far, 4 stars. Will review on later on this weekend!!

1 Book you read and/or reviewed this week: A Pediatric Surgeon in Iraq by Chris Coppola, MD

2 Words that describe the book: wartime medicine

3 Settings where it took place or characters you met: Iraq, the location; Chris, the author and USAF pediatric trauma surgeon; Trevor, another fellow trauma surgeon serving our country

4 Things you liked and/or disliked about it: 1. I am enjoying getting a glimpse of what goes on in terms of the medical issues in a war zone. 2. I am not enjoying hearing of all the traumas occurring, but it's a war after all. 3. The story of the female driver has really touched me...won't forget it for a long time! 4. I am gaining an even greater appreciation for our armed forces serving our country in Iraq or wherever they may be. THANK YOU!

Alison over at That's a Novel Idea has decided to start a new MEME. This meme will give each blogger an opportunity to give a brief description of a book they have read or reviewed during the week.

1 Book you read and/or reviewed this week: Curse of the Spider King by Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper

2 Words that describe the book: elves, spiders

3 Settings where it took place or characters you met: Berinfell; Vesper Crag; Lochgilphead, Scotland

4 Things you liked and/or disliked about it: 1. I love the scenery...it's beautiful! 2. My favorite character (so far) is Jimmy Gresham. 3. Polycythemia vera...need I say more!?!? 4. Great mystery of the children and the "other world".

5 Stars or less for your rating? 4.6 stars so far. I'll finish and have a review up by Tuesday at the latest for the CSFF Blog Tour!

Alison over at That's a Novel Idea has decided to start a new MEME. This meme will give each blogger an opportunity to give a brief description of a book they have read or reviewed during the week.

It will work like this:

1 Book you read and/or reviewed this week: The Help by Kathryn Stockett

2 Words that describe the book: slaves, desegregation

3 Settings where it took place or characters you met: Skeeter, Mae Mo (Love her!), and Aibileen

4 Things you liked and/or disliked about it: 1. Loved the idea of what Miss Skeeter is doing in the book. 2. Dislike that I am having a hard time with the "slave" language. 3. Love the historical themes built into the book that make it more realistic than fiction. 4. Really enjoying the mystery that is going on right now (I can't tell you or it might spoil the book)

5 Stars or less for your rating? 4.7 stars at this point. I'm not quite finished yet so I reserve the right to change the rating once I do finish it.

1.Loved the cover. It says so much! 2. Was disappointed in Lyn's mom's character. 3. Great decisions made on both sides. 4. Hated the sneakiness of the Glad Association, especially where parents are concerned.

1. I didn't like how it hit me square between the eyes, yet I did (it's a pride thing!) 2. I loved the character of Andy, no matter how mysterious he is 3. I love the themes surrounding this book 4. I'm intrigued by how a book can be written by 3 different people and flow so seamlessly!

1. My favorite line is just hilarious (you'll see it in my review!) 2. I don't like Valentine...or Luke...or Hodge 3. I love the description of Idris. I might want to go there! 4. I dislike the story line for Clary!!! WAHHHH! My opinion might change after I read the next book though. I'll hold out on it for now...

2 Words that describe the book: Difficult decisions
3 Settings where it took place or characters you met: Finn, the hero; Wyatt, the hopeless romantic; Macy, the woman stuck with a difficult decision
4 Things you liked and/or disliked about it: 1. I love the story. It's very believable! 2. I love the emphasis on giving back. 3. I despise Karen...she's just not loveable at all! 4. I dislike where I *think* this book may be going. I'll post my review on Tuesday and I'll let you know then.
5 Stars or less for your rating? Currently 4.5, really depends on the ending! LOL
