This book would be great for young girls who are interested in the fashion set. It's a fun book dealing with two sisters who have their own fashion show. They talk about morals, and how to be good examples as teenagers amidst lots of peer pressure. I highly recommend this book to teen girls! :)

Author Interview and Giveaway!

Earlier this month, I reviewed Straight for the Heart by Vickie McDonough. One of my fellow blogging buddies, Trish, interviewed Ms. McDonough and is offering a giveaway of this book on her blog. I thought ya'll might be interested, especially if you like stories of mail order brides!!! You have until June 23 to enter and the winner will be chosen on June 24 to receive a signed copy of this book.

One thing I learned from the interview that I found very intriguing is that this is the third book in a series!! I didn't feel like I had really missed out on anything by reading this book but I'm curious to know what the other titles are. If you know, please share the information so that I might locate and read the other books in the series.

I also learned that Ms. McDonough is working on a new title The Anonymous Bride which is due out next spring. I'm adding it to my to-be-read list now!!

Blood Bound is the second book in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I, by far, enjoyed this book so much more than the first Moon Called. There was more action (mainly with the vampires this time and I'm more of vampire than werewolf fan), a twist in the love interests of various characters in this book, and it had me hooked from the very beginning.



I am still in love with the fact that their are some non-traditional roles highlighted in this book. Mercy is an auto mechanic amongst other things. Not many authors highlight non-traditional careers. This is one thing that drew me into this series. I also love the very vivid descriptions about vampires and werewolves that are used in this book. I feel as though I'm there, smelling the smells, hearing the screams, and that I'm in the thick of things.



I do not envy Mercy in this book as I did in the first one. She has far too many issues for me to deal with. As far as her choice for lovers go, I can't decide who I'd rather see her with. I also have a few more in mind than possibly the author is alluding to so please don't assume I've narrowed it down to two!! :)



My only real *complaint* about this series is that the book covers don't seem to match up with Mercy's character. The covers look a bit, umm...slutty but I don't get that vibe from Mercy in these books. We know she does have a tat on her stomach but other than that, there is no mention of these others that the covers are depicting. Truthfully, had this book not been practically forced in my face by a student, I probably would have never picked it up to read based on the cover. This just goes to show that you really can't always judge a book by it's cover!!



I now look forward to reading the next book in this series Iron Kissed!!
