Labor Day and Catching Up!

It's been awhile since I've posted on here and I want to offer my apologies! Since school has started (Aug. 3) I've been going ninety to nothing! I have literally had available 80 minutes for reading since that time and it's because my school mandates that everyone read for 20 minutes every Monday! I love that they do that!

Besides all that, life has been great! I wanted to take a minute and wish you all a Happy Labor Day! I also want to encourage you to give back this weekend. The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon is currently playing and it is to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. The research for this disease has been very close to my heart for the past 30 years. My mom was diagnosed when I was 4 years old and I have watched her go from being able to carry my brother, sister, and I around to being confined to a wheelchair and needing 24 hour care. It breaks my heart to see this happen to her. Recently, a young boy (he's 18 months old) was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a form of MD. He will never be able to walk without a cure or treatment for this horrible disease. Two years ago, a beautiful student of mine named Chrissy, lost her battle with MD. She was only 17 years old.

It only takes a small amount of your time and money to make a difference. I don't want anyone else near me to discover they have this disease (which I could have an it not manifested yet...I do know that I have passed the gene to my children...I hope they never develop it either). Give today at www.mda.org!
