Reader's Dream

I had one of the craziest dreams ever...but didn't realize it was a dream at the time. I was engrossed in this book, totally engrossed. I was the main character who fell in love with this wonderfully handsome prince. There was a lot of romance, parties, much like life would have been like in the 18th century. The dresses were luxurious! Anyway, I wake up and google the book title and author. It doesn't even exist!!! *sigh* If only I could write it all down, maybe then I'd become an author of an award winning series of books. (I'm sure it was a series...had to have been!)

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Wow, this book hit just about every emotion in me imaginable! This story is set in Afghanistan back in the '80s and features 2 young boys. They enjoy running kites every year. Amir, a young man who tries desperately to gain his father's love and approval and Hassan, the slave boy who seems to always be in the way of Amir's dad's attention, are the two main characters. We come to learn that there is a deeper connection throughout this book with these two boys as the narrator (Amir) also describes life and conditions in his country.

I won't give anymore away. You just have to read it!!

This book was a wonderful page turner on a rainy day! I definately give this one 5 out of 5 stars! Highly recommended!

Nancy Mehagian: Siren's Feast, An Edible Odyssey - Shelfari

Nancy Mehagian: Siren's Feast, An Edible Odyssey - Shelfari

This is a very interesting book that covers all sorts of adventures! The writer details her life growing up in an Armenian American family and how she digressed from her family to move half way around the world to carry on her life. She opened the first vegetarian restaurant in Spain and showcased her many wonderful recipes. (The book features many of her speciality recipes!) Ms. Mehagian speaks of life in different cultures, whether it be the physical location, religion, or socially. I have learned so much about the various cultures mentioned in this book.

Some of my more favorite parts of this book include the recipes (of which I have yet to try but plan to...I'm not much of a cook) as well as the home remedies that she mentions. She also interested me in her line of work dealing with Jin Shin Jyutsu.

I recommend this book to anyone with culinary interests and those looking to research various cultures. This book was thoroughly enlightening!

Thrashers 5, Rangers 4

It's a shame that the ATL Thrashers haven't been more on top of their game earlier in the season. However, I'm so glad to see that my team has beat one of the highest ranked teams in the NHL!!! This is the Thrasher's second win against the Rangers this season. I was hoping to see the game but wasn't able to. I am going to the Senator's game tommorow night though! :)

Top 5 Reasons Why I Love the Internet

Over the years, the internet has been given a pretty bad rap. Albeit, not everything on it is wholesome and godly, but here are a few reasons I have really loved it:

1. Without it, I would not have met my husband (www.churchofchristsingles.com). We will celebrate our 8th year of marriage beginning in June this year.

2. Without it, I would not have 4 beautiful children!

3. Without it, I would not be able to keep in touch with some of my friends and family who live so far away.

4. Without it, my uncle may not have ever found his daughter who was kidnapped at birth 19 years ago. I'm so thankful that I now know where my cousin is and that she is safe and sound. She looks just like my grandmother!

5. Without it, I would not have met so many great people, one of which I was able to meet face to face today. Sorry I wasn't up for more conversation Margaret, maybe sometime we can have lunch or something!

While I can live without the internet, here are just 5 reasons out of many as to why I love the internet!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

My lil Michael is holding his toy and says, "I got this toy from daddy, who is Santa Claus. Mommy, that must mean you are the reindeer!"

Then my lil Mikaylah has started praying when someone changes her diaper. I'm not sure what that is about but it's so precious!!

SNOW DAY!!!

It's a rarity that we receive a snowfall like we saw on yesterday! Coming from the North, this is a HUGE deal for me! I was at church enjoying our family day and fellowship luncheon when someone pointed out that it was snowing. My initial reaction was one of excitement, and then I realized it wasn't sticking. Then I got a little disappointed and mentioned that it didn't count since it wasn't sticking. Not long after that, it did start to stick! The trip home was a little scary because the roads were getting a little slick but I couldn't wait to get home to change into play clothes and go enjoy it. We spent several hours playing in the snow and enjoying it. By nightfall, it was too cold to stay out anymore so we came into the house and warmed up. School was cancelled so we have today to enjoy what's left of the snow (not much!). I'll post pictures soon!
